Plan Your African Safari

Every African hunt is unique. The country, property, species pursued, and length of safari all influence the final experience and cost. Rather than forcing hunters into rigid packages, Apex Africa Safaris helps you design a hunt around the animals you want to pursue and the style of safari you want to experience.

The information below provides a clear framework for how most African safaris are structured so you can begin planning with confidence.

How Safari Pricing Works

Most African hunts are built using two components: Daily Rates and Trophy Fees.

Daily Rates

Daily rates cover the core safari experience. This includes your professional hunter, trackers, hunting vehicles, accommodations, meals, camp staff, and access to prime hunting concessions.

Daily rates are charged per hunter, per day.

Typical plains game safaris range from 7–10 hunting days, though longer hunts are common when pursuing multiple species or specific trophies.

Trophy Fees

Trophy fees are only paid when an animal is successfully harvested. Each species has a set trophy fee based on rarity, size, and conservation management.

This system allows hunters to tailor their safari to their goals. Some hunters pursue one dream trophy, while others enjoy a classic plains game safari and harvest several species during their stay.

Sample Safari Structure

Most first-time hunters choose a Plains Game Safari, which allows you to pursue several iconic African species during your hunt.

A typical safari may include species such as:

• Impala
• Warthog
• Blesbok
• Wildebeest
• Zebra
• Kudu
• Gemsbok

The final selection of animals is completely up to you and can be adjusted throughout the safari as opportunities arise.

What Your Safari Includes

Your daily rate typically includes:

• Professional Hunter and tracking team
• Hunting vehicles and fuel
• Comfortable safari lodging
• All meals and beverages in camp
• Field preparation of trophies
• Transportation during the hunt

Our team works with experienced outfitters who maintain well-managed hunting concessions with strong game populations and professional camp operations.

Additional Costs to Consider

While the daily rate covers most of the safari experience, hunters should plan for several additional items:

  1. International airfare to Africa
  2. Trophy fees for animals harvested
  3. Trophy preparation (dip & pack) or taxidermy
  4. Shipping trophies to your home country
  5. Gratuities for professional hunters and camp staff
  6. Travel insurance if desired

A detailed planning guide and equipment checklist will be provided once your safari is booked.

Travel & Safari Planning

Most hunters will fly commercially into a major international airport in Africa where they will be met by the outfitter or transferred to camp. From there your safari begins — days spent tracking game across rugged country and evenings around the fire sharing stories from the hunt.

We will assist you throughout the planning process including:

• Travel recommendations
• Firearm import procedures if bringing your rifle
• Packing and gear guidance
• Trophy handling and export procedures

Our goal is to make the logistics simple so you can focus on the adventure ahead.

Important Note

The pricing listed on this page serves as a general guide. Exact pricing may vary depending on country, outfitter, species availability, and safari length.

A detailed quote and hunt plan will be provided once we discuss your hunting goals.
